Comfort always comes first
Every decision starts with one gentle question: will this help your pet feel more at ease — today, and in the days to come?
Our vision is to bridge the critical gap between diagnosis and end of life — so no family ever feels lost, rushed, or alone in their pet's final chapter.
Senior Pet Vet was founded in 2018 by Dr. Shelagh McCaffrey, a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian who saw families leaving clinic visits with a difficult diagnosis — and no roadmap for what came next.
Today our mobile practice serves families across Bergen and Rockland counties, providing quality-of-life assessments, palliative medicine, acupuncture, hospice support, and peaceful in-home euthanasia. We work alongside your family veterinarian, adding a dedicated layer of senior-care expertise for the chapter of life that deserves it most.

We exist to close a real gap in senior pet care — so no family feels lost or helpless after a chronic or terminal diagnosis. Our work bridges the space between diagnosis and goodbye with clarity and options.
Every visit is unhurried and at home. We take the time to understand your family and your pet, then build a customized comfort plan that can be shared with everyone involved in their care.

No two journeys are the same. We blend high-quality traditional medicine with gentle therapies like acupuncture and environmental enrichment — always guided by what is best for your individual pet.
Families come to us at their most vulnerable moments. We honor that trust with transparency, consistency, and unwavering honesty — every visit, every conversation, every goodbye.
